Dr Swanson Keynotes Employee and Athlete Wellbeing Event

In the complex and evolving world of sport, athletes increasingly face new challenges that can impact their personal wellbeing.

As success in the sport environment has traditionally been defined solely in terms of on-field performance, a more comprehensive view is needed which incorporates holistic employee and athlete wellbeing as a core component of achievement.

A focus on positive drivers of mental, physical, and social wellbeing for sport business focused staff and elite athletes is therefore important for developing and maintaining a thriving sport industry across all levels.

We invite sport managers, coaches and athletes to join Deakin Sport and the Centre for Sport Research for a free public seminar focused on addressing contemporary wellbeing challenges and opportunities in the world of sport.

Dr Steve Swanson – Senior Lecturer and Co-Director of the Centre for Sport Research, former Professional Basketball Coach in the UK and NCAA Division 1 in the US. Dr Swanson will lead off the evening presenting insights from his research into wellbeing in the sport management context, supported by input from a highly credentialed group of panellists covering broader aspects of the sport industry including athlete wellbeing.
